Yes, the photonic engine. It's not as good as Dynamic Island. There was a time when an Apple device automatically took multiple images and cherry- picked the best bits. Photonic Engine is a pimped version of this as it applies Deep Fusion to images earlier in the process so that more data can be used. Apple claims that the Photonic Engine improves photos taken in low- to mid-light scenes. I don't think the worddramatically is right here.
The new image processing is supposed to improve the camera on the phone. I agree with my colleague's view of the Pros on this one, it's hard to notice any significant upgrade over last year.
The new iPhone 14 is better at video than before. The stabilization built into the iPhone was shown to a professional car videographer by me.
If that wasn't enough, now the iPhone 14 has an action mode, which you can use to shoot video for stabilization. It is capable of up to 2.8K resolution and 60 frames per second, and raises it to another level. It requires a lot of light to work well, but there is a switch in the camera settings menu that allows it to take action in low light. Apple's Cinematic mode now supports 4K resolution up to 30 frames per second, up from the previous limit of1080p.
The best is yet to come.
Apple likes to say it's the best yet. It's accurate, but it's also deceptive. Even if customers don't know about the improvements, the real measure is if they can't notice them. Is the bar cleared by the iPhone 14? It is not possible to say yes.
If you replaced the 13 with the 14 it would take more than a week for me to get used to it. Most people won't need to upgrade if they have the latest version of the software.
The Dynamic Island was the only thing Apple had to do to make the iPhone 14 a bigger hit. It doesn't matter if it's not game-changing. The trick uses dead space to hide the Face ID sensors. It looks new.
Apple makes a point of what's wrong with the upgraded phone. There is a new version of the AirPods Pro. We like them very much. Almost anyone would be hard-pressed to not be impressed by the improvements to noise canceling, sound quality, and battery life that come with the new wireless earbuds. I don't know how my hairdresser and I would sum it up. It's overwhelming.
