“The iPhone 14 Pro's outstanding performance, simple and powerful software, versatile camera, and high-quality design make for an effortless ownership experience.”
There are pros and cons.
There are pros and cons.
Everything about the phone is easy. The design is modern, the software is easy to use, and the camera takes better pictures than its predecessors. It is not the most daring update over its predecessor.
Let's discuss the pros and cons of taking the plunge into Apple ownership or upgrade from an existing iPhone. We have a review of the non- Pro iPhone 14.
The iPhone 14 Pro is very familiar to people who have seen the other two models. It has the same flat, squared-off design that feels too sharp in your hand, but is beautifully made from STAINLESS STEEL. The phone will not be damaged from accidental water spills if it has a water-resistance rating. The power and volume buttons are on the side of the phone, but you won't find a sim tray if you buy an Apple product in the U.S.
You can use the 6.1-inch Pro with one hand. I have not had any fatigue from holding it for long periods of time because it is 71mm wide and 7.8mm thick. Protection with a case will help keep it from breaking for freedom. There are several ordinary colors and you can choose a transparent case for Deep Purple. It's almost black in some situations, but if it's in the right light it will pop. There's a purple hue to the Chassis. It looks great.

The camera module on the back is large and makes a bold statement when the phone isn't in a case. It all adds up to a phone that looks like an Apple device. The design is classy and cool, fitting in with every situation. If you choose the purple one, it will get admiring looks.
I would like to see a design that wasn't the same as the last two models. That would have been great. Is it necessary to look different? It's not at all. The Pro formula is classy looks, just the right size and weight, high-quality materials, and stellar build quality, so it can't be faulted for not making dramatic changes with the iPhone 14 Pro. I would have liked to see more color options but I think they will come later.
The new 6.1-inch Super retina XDR screen has some tricks up its sleeve. It is worth mentioning that the brightness is important. It reaches 1600 nits normally, but can increase to 2000 in the shade. The screen becomes brighter and easier to read when the sun is out.
The biggest new screen feature is the always-on display. The time, battery, and notification icons are always on the phone's screen. Apple has an always-on screen that is a dim version of the lock screen, in full color, and has a variety of notifications. You can use the Apple Watch on your phone. It's so much more than we've seen on any other phone, with the time and date highlighted in a bright white fonts over your choice of wallpaper, and notifications showing the icon and basic details about each one.
Controls for music and audio apps stay on-screen and a quick tap wakes them up ready to pause or change tracks The lock screen experience has become sharper and quicker to react to. I use the phone in my car for music and before it took multiple taps to work, it was a single tap and an instant reaction on the phone. The always-on screen is a step above other implementations we have seen. It might not be helping battery life.
The 120Hz ProMotion feature makes a return and should be considered a strong reason to go for the Pro model over the standard model. The higher refresh rate causes less eye-strain than the lower one. You will notice its absence even though it becomes invisible. The screen on the iPhone 14 Pro is amazing with its colors, deep blacks, and pitch- perfect contrast. Stereo speakers are some of the best. I can happily watch videos and listen to music through streaming services because of the clarity, power, and presence of the sound.
If you can bare the extra weight and price of the device, you will be able to view the larger screen on the larger device.

Dynamic Island is Apple's cringey name for the expanded pill-shaped notch replacement at the top of the screen. It is relatively easy to see information about screen and voice recordings, face unlock alert, and timer. Developers haven't been given access to Apple's Live Activities feature Dynamic Island's usefulness will increase when these things occur.
Potential is what you see for now. The Dynamic Island doesn't feel like it's intrusive or that it's useful. Music controls are the best example, as a short tap will take you directly to the app that is playing, and a longer press will reveal a set of quick controls. When more apps make use of it, it will bode well for the future since it is fast and easy to use. It's a seamless thing of beauty, as the software changes and shifts around the hardware component so quickly that you can't tell where one begins and the other ends.
The Apple device comes with the latest version of the operating system. I am not convinced that it is necessary or beneficial to change the lock screen in Apple's mobile operating system. The new settings page is not easy to navigate and confusing. I have never seen a benefit to adding more stuff to the lock screen. The new A16 Bionic processor powers all this with aplomb, and while I have had no problem with performance at any time, I am not sure I can see any difference between it and the A15 Bionic.

The notification system in Apple's mobile operating system has been demonized for some time. I have been using the system for a long time and have seen it evolve. It isn't perfect, but it's better than before, and I don't consider it a hate crime. There are notifications at the bottom of the lock screen that can be expanded when Face ID sees you. Some can be opened with a tap or further viewed. It does what I want and is not better or worse than most of the other notification systems on the market. When I use my AirPods, I get a read on my messages from my computer.
What are the negative things? When the phone is unlocked, I pull down on the left of the screen to better see notifications, but this once-helpful feature has been reduced to a copy of the lock screen and makes notifications slower to view and interact with. I don't like the fact that the Search button is stuck to the bottom of the home screen, which makes it hard to see what's going on.
Software updates are one of the key software advantages over other phones that make the iPhone such a joy to live with. Although Apple doesn't give a time frame on how long it officially supports its phones with major updates, the most recent version of the software works as far back as the iPhone 8. The iPhone 14 Pro is expected to get updates for another five years.
The camera on the iPhone 14 Pro is better than the one on the 13 Pro. The enhancements make a difference. The main camera has a higher resolution than the other cameras. The new Photonic Engine improves lowlight zoom images, and we have compared the new device to the previous one, giving a deep dive into its capabilities in different environments.
The photographic experience and the app, what about them? The phone can record up to 4K video at 60 frames per second and can take 2x or 3x optical zoom shots. While some may want to see a greater optical zoom, the 3x setting gets you in close. The new 2x zoom is more useful than a 5x zoom.
When using the rear camera, face recognition is near-instant and the app instantly recognizes text to copy-and-paste into other apps. The premade filters rarely enhance my images, and the image-editing suite is confusing and not very fast to use. Even though it does a better job with its filters, the editing suite is less intuitive and I often use apps like snapseed to give photos a boost.

More potential for editing is provided by the fact that stills can be shot in ProRaw mode. ProRaw photos take up a lot of space with single images coming in at around 60 MB or more. It gets worse if you want to experiment with the ProRes feature for video, as Apple estimates a single minute of ProRes video will take up a huge amount of storage space. I'll be able to record ProRes for 19 minutes with the remaining 100 gigabytes on my phone.
The return of the Cinematic Mode and the new Action Mode are similar to the niche features of ProRaw and ProRes. A level of stabilization is added to videos where you and the target are moving. The stabilization on the iPhones 13 Pro and 14 Pro is very good, and the smooth transition between zoom levels is very welcome.
The camera on the iPhone 14 Pro is better than the one on the 13 Pro.
Most people will be able to shoot photos and video in the normal modes with stock stabilization. The additional pro-style features may not be used very often, and certainly not by everyone who buys an iPhone 14 Pro, but they are implemented well, and should you have the knowledge and correct additional software to try them out, they are definitely powerful.
The camera on the 14 Pro is amazing. It requires exciting and vibrant photos in the sun, detailed and balanced photos in the dark, and is versatile for me to experiment with. There is more technical expertise hidden inside than ever before, and features that are beyond me, but could prove useful in the future.
There are signs that the battery performance of the iPhone 14 Pro is getting better. Initially, the battery was never going to last more than a day, and with a moderate amount of screen time, it would be down to less than 30% by the evening. It was necessary to go to the charging station by this point. This was mostly connected to the internet and had aGPS, camera, apps, a short amount of video, and a few hours of music.
The phone's battery life and charging technology are not very impressive.
The iPhone 14 Pro seems to have settled into my own use patterns. The battery won't last for two days, but it has improved. The system may have been improved by the arrival ofiOS 160.2 Software may be a factor in the poor battery performance of my phone, as the first version ofiOS 16 dramatically cut the battery life on my phone.
There is a Lightning cable in the box, but Apple doesn't have a charging port for the phone. The battery will charge to 50% in about 30 minutes if you own the 20- watt block. It takes Apple's 29W charging block just over an hour to full. It isn't bad, but can't match the fast charging times provided by the OnePlus 10T or other phones. It is similar to the phones of the Korean company.
The phone's battery life and charging technology are not very impressive. Some of the brands that are not sold in the U.S. have made significant improvements in fast-charging technology, and it is reasonable to assume that most of the phones on the market today will last two days on a single charge. If you demand a lot from your phone, then be prepared to carry a battery pack or stop charging during the day to avoid any anxiety.
We will keep an eye on the battery life on the iPhone 14 Pro because there is anecdotal evidence that it has been extended.
If you add more storage space, the price goes up to 1,429 pounds in the U.K. All iPhone 14 Pro models are available to buy in the U.S. through most networks.
I love how easy it is to live with the iPhone 14 Pro, and this begins from the moment you get it out of the box. It doesn't take long to set the phone up and Apple provides everything from extra temporary iCloud storage and fast transfer to make it really simple. There is a notification that pops up if you are trading in your old phone. It is a great way to introduce your phone.
It goes all the way to the very end. I use two devices that connect instantly and have great range, and I can swap between them without being confused. The app that I use to keep my headphones up to date is easy to use, and the connection is as stable as possible.
It is very easy to connect the Apple Watch SE 2 and the Apple Watch Ultra to the iPhone 14 Pro. The app works well and My Oura Ring also connects. Apple Pay is accepted everywhere, the choice of cases to protect the phone is enormous, and even the resale value is stronger than any other device. A car crash detection system that I have no intention of testing and an emergency satellite calling feature that I can't test because it's not out until November are new safety features. I don't want to need it.
I don't want the phone I own to be a chore. It is one of the reasons software like OxygenOS and ColorOS are not easy to use. I expect a phone that costs $1,000 and features a 120Hz ProMotion screen, crash detection, and all the other bells and whistles, to work with me, and the iPhone 14 Pro does just that.
This is what I want, far more so than any visual change for change, and the iPhone 14 Pro is able to deliver it. Enjoy the best experience you can have with your phone. If you have an iPhone 13 Pro already, there isn't much new unless you really like the screen and Dynamic Island, and it's the same for everyone else. Anyone who has an Apple product before the 12 will find the upgrade worth it.
