One more week will be needed for Michael Gallup to return to the Dallas Cowboys.

According to sources, Gallup will not play in Monday's game against the Giants despite a full week of practice. Gallup has gone through two full-padded practices in the last two weeks.

If the Cowboys kept Gallup on the physically unable to perform list, he wouldn't be allowed to practice or play in the first four games. On Sunday, the Cowboys play the Washington Commanders.

The Cowboys will not be able to use Gallup. The tight end will test his injured knee in the warm ups to see if he can play. He's played in 61 games in a row.

Jake Ferguson and Peyton Hendershot will split the tight end duties if Schultz isn't playing. Sean McKeon is going to be called up by the Cowboys.

For the first time this season, the Cowboys will have a third-round pick and five other rookies on their 53-man roster. The Cowboys want to be careful with Gallup's return in order for him to be effective for a large portion of the season.

Peters will be added to the 53-man roster on Monday. Signed a few days before the season began, the Cowboys have increased Peters' practice workload, but he is expected to play left guard and possibly split work with Matt Farniok. Through two games, the Cowboys have been pleased with the work of their first-round pick. While with the Philadelphia Eagles, Peters played right guard for a period of time.
