A good sign for "The Way of Water's" chances is the strong box office for the movie that was 13 years old.
"Avatar" is the highest grossing movie of all time with over $2 billion at the worldwide box office.
After a re-release in China last year, "Avatar" reclaimed its title as the best movie of 2019.
The movie was re-released in 4K at a high-dynamic range and with improved sound. 20% of the global gross was accounted for by Imax screenings.
"Titanic" was the world's biggest movie until "Avatar" took it's place.

There is a lot riding on The Way of Water. In the last few weeks, tentpoles have been missing. There are only two films coming to theaters the rest of the year.
"Spider-Man: No Way Home" and "Jaws" have been re-released recently due to the movie dry spell. The former made $6.5 million over the four-day weekend in the US, while the latter made $3 million.
"Don't worry darling" was the top film at the US box office over the weekend, taking in $19 million.
