John Fetterman has tattoos on his arm that show the dates of his death. The photo was taken by the Associated Press.

Tucker Carlson was insulted by John Fetterman on Sunday.

In his opening monologue early this month, Carlson bashed Fetterman's tattoos as fake and said the lieutenant governor was weak on crime. Carlson, heir to a $30 million fortune, claimed Fetterman was a fake blue-collar populist.

The fake tattoos are a costume. Carlson said it was not real.

Carlson mangled that attack even more. Fetterman pointed out in an NBC op-ed on Sunday that the tattoos Carlson mocked were for people who were killed in violent crimes.

Tucker Carlson is interested in talking about my tattoos. Fetterman, who is leading in polls ahead of his November election against Donald Trump, wrote that he would like to discuss them.

Nine dates are tattooed on my arm. Fetterman said that each one was a day when someone died violently in Pennsylvania. It's not a joke to say that gun violence and violent crime are real.

Christopher Williams, who was shot dead as he delivered pizzas, was one of the killings Fetterman described in his op-ed.

The tattoos are not something you wear. He wrote that they are reminders of what he is fighting for.

Fetterman said that the stories of the people who died are with him every day. They remind me of why I'm here.
