Zlatan Ibrahimovic in his new cameo. Asterix

Having won just about all there is to win in football it would appear that AC Milan's Zlatan Ibrahimovic has set his sights on conquering the movie world after landing a role in the new movie.

"Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom" is a remake of the popular franchise. The Swede plays a Roman gladiator named Caius Antivirus and is joined in the cast by some of the biggest names in the film industry.

The Milan forward proudly revealed the news on social media by posting a trailer of the movie which shows him in full gladiatorial garb.

Guillaume Canet is the director of the movie and he plays the character of Obelix. It is the first time in the franchise's history that the live-action Obelix is not played by Depardieu.

We took a look at the list of other star football players who are going to be in a movie.

Zinedine Zidane

It's not the first time a footballer has appeared in a film. In 2008's "Asterix at the Olympic Games", he wore a long black wig to play the part of a magician.

This movie was the second most expensive non-English-language production of all time, and also featured parts for other sports stars.

The sight of him with long hair makes it hard to say how good his appearance was.

Eric Cantona

Cantona had a role in a British film called " Looking for Eric."

The former Manchester United and France star has starred in and directed a number of French and European art house movies, as well as sharing screen time with some of the biggest names in the film industry.

Neymar

"xXx: Return of Xander Cage" was the third movie in the "xXx" series.

Vin Diesel was back in the title role, but the leading man was also joined by Paris Saint-German and Brazil forward Neymar, who appeared to be playing a young Brazilian man who kicks things.

David Beckham

David Beckham is in the movie "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword" and he has a small part in the scene when the sword is drawn from the stone.

Becks is still smoulders even though he doesn't have a nose.

Who can forget the small part in "Goal" for the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy player?

Francesco Totti

As a player, Totti earned all the plaudits a footballer could dream of, and now he can add "award-winning film star" to his impressive resume.

"My Name is Francesco Totti" was the best documentary at the Nastri d'Argento awards in Italy.

Alex Infascelli's film shows Totti reliving his career highs and lows while looking into a mirror as he prepares to play his final game. He started playing football at a young age and ended his career at the Stadio Olimpico in Lazio.

Ronaldinho

Ronaldinho was cast to play a Brazilian martial arts expert in Jean Claude Van Damme's "Kickboxer" movie.

Mike Tyson and Hafthor "The Mountain" Bjornsson were part of the cast of "Kickboxer: Retaliation," which was directed by Ronaldinho.

Olivier Giroud and Presnel Kimpembe

They were offered the chance to act in an animated version of Spider-Man.

In the French-dubbed version of "Spider-Man: New Generation," Kimpembe played the part of Scorpion, while Giroud voiced the Green Goblin.

Pele

Probably the most beloved of all times that football has been committed to celluloid was when the greatest player of all time played.

In 1981's "Escape To Victory," Bobby Moore and Ossie Ardiles were part of a group of Allied POWs who were trying to escape the Nazis.

Andres Iniesta

The Spanish-language version of an animated movie by Aardman Studios features the voice of Barcelona legend Iniesta.

Antoine Griezmann

The voice of Superman in the French version of the "Lego Batman Movie" was given to the Les Bleus star, by himself.

Lukas Podolski

Podolski made a brief appearance in a German film called "Macho Man," which was filmed in Cologne.

I think my scene in the stadium is hilarious. He gushed when he announced the role. I am happy to be a part of it.

Vinnie Jones

Probably the ex- football player with the most accomplished acting resume, having played thuggish goons in action movies like "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels," "Gone In 60 Seconds," and "Snatch."

Jones is known as a hard-man of the game and he played for many clubs.

It's hopelessly typecast, but happily accruing the paychecks.

Carlo Ancelotti

A few strings were pulled to get a brief appearance as a doctor in the movie.

The Real Madrid manager said that he got the part through a friend, who was the husband of a character in the franchise.

Frank Leboeuf

In the movie "The Theory of Everything", he played the role of "Swiss doctor", which is his biggest film credit.

The 1998 World Cup winner has appeared in a number of movies, though none are as important.

Stan Collymore

Collymore acted in "Basic Instinct II: Risk Addiction" with Sharon Stone.

Even though his character was killed off before the opening credits, he still got to attend the premiere.

Ian Wright

In the British crime film "Black Gun of the Sun", Wright played the role of "Duke", a fictionalized version of a real person.
