Slaven Bilic has been named as the new head coach of the Hornets after just 11 games in charge.

He was the eighth permanent manager of the Hornets since the beginning of the year.

Since leaving Beijing Guoan, Bilic has not been in charge.

His contract was canceled by mutual consent in January because he wanted to go back to Europe.

The change to be in the best interests of the club was stated by the owner.

Rob had enough time to show us the identity of his team but performances haven't reflected our hopes and ambitions.

We have secured the services of an experienced coach who has recently been promoted to the top flight in England.

Edwards move angered Forest Green

Dale Vince of Forest Green angrily responded to the appointment of Edwards, accusing him of going behind his back to finish negotiations.

The sense was that there was a different approach to hiring and firing managers.

Chief executive Scott Duxbury told the Watford Observer: "We will be supporting Rob Edwards come hell or high water."

His final game was a 2-2 draw with the Black Cats at home on 17 September.

"Watford FC has relieved Rob Edwards of his duties as head coach."

The board wishes to place on record its thanks to Rob for all of his work since his appointment and wish him and his assistant, Richie Kyle, the very best for their future careers in coaching and management.

Revolving door at Vicarage Road

Sean Dyche left in 2012 along with many others.

The two men who led the club to promotion to the premier league were both fired six months later.

Three months after he was brought in, the Italian was gone.

The first match of Bilic's reign will be at the Britannia Stadium.

Since moving into coaching, the former centre-back has worked in Russia, Turkey, Croatia, China and England, as well as the United Arab Emirates.

He was in charge of the Croatian national team for six years and led them to home and away wins over England in their Euro 2008 qualification campaign.

In his first season in charge of West Ham, Bilic guided them to a seventh-place finish, and in his second season in charge of West Brom, they were promoted to the Championship.
