The schools are open as usual on Monday. The districts are likely to announce the closings for the rest of the week in the morning. Most of the shelters for hurricanes in both counties are located in schools.

The shelter quickly reached capacity and closed to new evacuees. Sarasota County is in the process of hardening schools in mid-county into storm shelters.

If you live in a mobile home, you have to leave when the order to evacuate is given. If you're not in a flood-vulnerable area, you should stay with a friend or family member who is.
