The retail giant announced in a press release Monday that it will host another sales event for its Prime subscription members in October.

The Prime Early Access Sale will feature a list of 100 popular and giftable items.

In July, Insider'sKatherine Long reported that Amazon was planning an October deals event after viewing internal company documents.

Insider reported that the Early Access Sale was designed to reward people who sign up for Amazon Prime.

Prime Day is when Amazon is famous. The October timing of the Early Access Sale means that it will be thrown before the busy holiday season begins.

In February, Amazon raised the price of its Prime membership in the US by $20, and in July it raised prices in several European countries by as much as 42%.

When contacted by Insider, Amazon didn't give a reason for introducing another sales day.

Chief financial officer Brian Olsavsky told reporters in April that the company bought up warehouse space that now exceeds its needs because of a huge surge in demand at the beginning of the Pandemic.
