Stephen Curry said he had private conversations with Adam Silver about the punishment handed down by the league to the Phoenix Suns and Mercury owner.

"He had to intervene and bring down a punishment that was worthy of the actions that we were all responding to and representing the league as a whole and protecting the integrity of the league." There should be a standard for what is acceptable and what isn't.

An independent investigation found that he used the N-word at least five times and that he was involved in instances of inequitable conduct toward female employees. An investigation was commissioned by the NBA in the wake of allegations of racism and misogynistic behavior during the 17 years of ownership of the team by the man.

The NBA's announcement was met with backlash as many people said the punishment wasn't severe enough. The Suns' jersey patch sponsor threatened to end their partnership if the team's owner was still alive. The Suns minority owner called for the resignation of the team's CEO.

The process to sell the Suns and Mercury was announced just over a week after he was suspended.

Curry thinks the outcome was what should have happened. With the punishment that was handed down, it would have dragged out a little longer, but I'm glad we got to a point where the team is up for sale sooner than later.

In an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine published earlier this month, Curry expressed regret for not taking a public stance and boycotting the playoff game against the Clippers that followed the publication of an audio recording in which the Clippers' owner made racist remarks.

Curry praised James, Paul and Green, his teammates on the Warriors, for using their public platforms to speak out, as well as Silver, who answered his call.

"You want to have swift responses and reactions to stuff like that, because the top players who have vested interests in protecting the league as well," Curry said.

Before he announced his intention to sell the Suns, Green recorded a 25-minute episode in which he called on NBA owners to vote to end the ownership of the Suns.

"If this is governed by a vote, then why isn't there a vote?" Green asked at Warriors media day. It is a fireable offense. It is possible to force a sale type of event. If that is what needs to happen, why isn't there a vote?

Green said he was happy to see that he was selling the team. Some of the things that people have gotten in trouble over are the same thing. No one person is larger than the league. It goes across the board if that goes for us. We are all a part of the league no matter what level you are at.
