The Cleveland Indians have a new title this year: the American League Central champion.

Four of Steven Kwan's career-high five RBIs came on his first career grand slam in the eighth, and the Guardians defeated the Texas Rangers 10-4 on Sunday.

The division title was wrapped up about 15 minutes before the game ended.

With 10 days left in the season, the Guardians have opened a 10-game lead. Cleveland has won 18 of 21 games since the beginning of the year.

The Indians scored four runs in the third on four singles and a throwing error and added two more in the sixth on a triple by Gabriel Arias.

The fly to deep right bounced off the back wall and back onto the field in the eighth. In the third and seventh, she had two singles.

When Civale gets at least three runs of support, it's 21-0. He threw 75 pitches in his second start, striking out seven and walking none.

This is Cleveland's 11th Central title since the division's inception in 1994 and its fourth in 10 years under manager Terry Francona, who battled health problems the past two seasons but has enjoyed this ride with a team that may have surprised early on but is now being seen as a

The season wasn't supposed to start.

After dropping Indians as their nickname, a move that rankled a sizable portion of Cleveland's fan base, the Guardians did little to upgrade their roster in free agency.

Cleveland's children were more than okay. The fifth-round draft choice has become the club's leadoff hitter after making the roster in spring training.

The youngest team in baseball has overcome the odds from the beginning. Despite having 16 rookies make their major league debuts, the Guardians won despite having a brutal schedule due to Cleveland's bad weather.

The first run was scored by Texas on a sacrifice fly. He sat out Saturday night's game because he was hit in the wrist by a pitch.

Rangers starter Cole Ragans, who was called up in early August, gave up four runs on six hits. He had three strikeouts and one walk.
