According to a new book excerpt, a former palace insider said that after she joined the royal family, she thought she would be the "Beyonce of the UK".

An excerpt from "Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown" was published by The Times of London. The book will be on sale on October 6.

While discussing Prince Harry, 38, and Markle's eventual departure for the United States, a former palace insider told Low that the bride-to-be couldn't fit into the royal family's lifestyle.

She thought she was going to be the queen of the UK. Being part of the royal family would give her that honor. She found that there were so many rules that she couldn't do things that she could as a private individual.

The way the couple's departure was handled was thought to be incompetent by the source. The Duke and other royal family members struggled to come up with a solution to the departure.

They felt cornered and misunderstood. The departure negotiations were never going to end happily if the rest of the institution didn't appreciate that.
