According to a new ABC/Washington Post poll, Republicans and independent voters who lean towards the GOP are split on who to vote for in the presidential election in four years.
According to the poll, 45% of Republicans and independents would vote for Trump in the race, while 42% would prefer someone else.
According to ABC, those figures show a 20 point fall in support for Trump compared to 2020.
More than half of Democrats and independent voters would prefer another candidate over Biden, according to the poll.
The poll found that if only registered voters were taken into account, Biden would get 42% of the vote compared to Trump's 42%.
A random national sample of 1,006 adults were surveyed in the poll.
Both Biden and Trump are running for president. Polls consistently show that most Democratic voters don't want Biden to run again in four years. Recent victories like passing the Inflation Reduction Act and dropping gas prices have pushed the president to announce his candidacy for the White House in four years. According to a June poll, half of Americans think he should face criminal charges for his involvement in the Capitol Hill riots.
Biden and his party are struggling, as most Democrats are looking elsewhere.
