Gavin Newsom says he is definitely not running for president in 2024 after his 'vulnerable' 2021 recall

The governor of California said he wouldn't run for president in 2024 because of the recall election.

During an interview at the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin, he was asked if he was going to run for president.

"Not occurring, no, no, not at all," he said. I said it in Italian. I am not familiar with German. I can't tell you enough. Thank you, but also. It's hard to describe. It is not bitter. It's great to be asked. I don't trust politicians so I get why you ask.

Newsom said Saturday that California was a gift. The Americans are strong. We talk about lavatories of democracy, and we are able to scale ideas that have impact all over the world. I don't take it for granted and I am very proud of that privilege.

Business Insider previously reported that the first term governor survived a recall election in 2021. He is expected to win reelection this year.
