GOP Sen. Ted Cruz doubles down on his anti-gun control stance: Violence 'is actually the only thing that does' stop violence, he told crowd at event

Ted Cruz said on Saturday that violence is the answer to violence.

Cruz said there are people on the left who would like to get rid of all the guns.

He said that 500,000 to a million more people are victims of crime.

There were 540,00 violent crimes in 2020.

Cruz responded by talking about the shooting at the First Baptist Church in Texas when a member of the audience interrupted him and asked about the rifles. Stephen Willeford killed 26 people and injured many more.

Cruz said that Stephen used an assault rifle.

Cruz was interrupted by another audience member who said violence doesn't solve violence.

He said it's the only thing that does.

The most recent data from The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows a 30 percent increase in murders between the years of 2020 and 2019.
