Disney hasn't released a Star Wars film since the end of the Skywalker Saga and with plenty of ambiguity as to its current movie release schedule you would think it'd be slim pickings for wannabe Jedi Knights, Sith lords and bounty hunters. Even a cursory look at the upcoming Star Wars TV shows shows that there is plenty to keep even the most discriminating fans busy.

The first trailer for Tales of the Jedi has dropped and we are more excited than ever. Tales of the Jedi will be presented as a six-episode anthology of shorts after two very different Jedi, Ahsoka Tano and Jedi-master.

Fans of The Clone Wars will be happy to know that the morally minded togruta and separatist sympathizer roles will be reprised by two of their favorite actors. Ahsoka will show her journey from force-sensitive child to wielder on the run and Dooku will show his path towards the dark side.

Liam Neeson will reprise his role as the former master of Obi-Wan. Michel Richardson will be playing the role of the Jedi-in-training's younger incarnation.

  • Release date: TBA
  • Cast: TBA

For almost 50 years, Star Wars fans have had a special place in their hearts for two of the first characters to appear in the franchise. The pair will be joined by a new hero, who is yet to be announced, but we are hoping for the return ofBB-8

It is not the first time that the beloved duo have starred in their own animated series, thanks to the similar title of Star Wars: Droids. There is some confusion as to whether A Droid Story is an upcoming Star Wars TV series or a film due to the lack of information released by Disney. A television show is more likely due to the uncertainty surrounding the future of Star Wars.

Anthony Daniels is the only actor to feature in all 11 Star Wars movies and has reprised, so we would be surprised if he wasn't involved in the new film. At the beginning of the year, a photograph from Ealing Studios was posted on the social media site. The British actor is wearing a motion-capture suit in the movie.

We are excited to see more about the show because it is said to push the boundaries of visual effects and animation. With so little to go on, we will just have to imagine how the unlikely pair will fare in the real world.

The Acolyte

The Acolyte

  • Release date: 2023
  • Cast: Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jai, Manny Jacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith

The Acolyte will take a deeper look at Star Wars history than any other show or movie before it. The show is set in a time when the Jedi were thought to be extinct. One of the most exciting Star Wars casts to date will be on the show.

Variety (opens in new tab) recently confirmed that Amandla Stenberg will be playing the lead role in the film and that Lee Jung-jai will be playing the villain.

While the House of Mouse is playing its Sabacc cards close to its chest about characters and plot, it has been releasing a lot of comics and novels to flesh out this intriguing new era of Star Wars lore. While the lion's share of Star Wars' big hitters such as Anakin, Obi-Wan,Luke, Leia and Han, simply haven't been born yet in The Acolyte's time period, Yoda will be enjoying his seventh century With Disney treading very carefully over its handling of classic characters nowadays, it is not certain whether or not the Grand Master will make an appearance, or what role he will play.

According to Leslye Headland, the art style of the High Republic is deliberately clean. She told Vanity Fair that they were trying to carry George's idea that the further you go back, the more you can get away with.

The Acolyte, which is rumored to be the production at Shinfield Studios in Reading, will take place from next month until April 23rd.

Andor

Cassian Andor from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

  • Release date: New episode every Wednesday
  • Cast: Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgård, Fiona Shaw, Genevieve O'Reilly

Andor has received a lot of positive reviews. Diego Luna plays a Rebel spy in the show who is on a doomed mission to steal the Death Star plans. It has an all-star cast that includes Adria Arjona, Kyle Soller, and Forest Whittaker.

It is interesting to see how he developed into the legendary freedom fighter who helped prevent the Empire from ruling without a fight. It's the closest we're going to get to a Han Solo prequel series, with swashbuckling action scenes and charisma galore.

Ahsoka

Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian

  • Release date: 2023
  • Cast: Rosario Dawson, Natasha Liu Birdizzo, Eman Esfandi, Ray Stevenson

Once The Clone Wars fans warmed to her, she became one of the most beloved Star Wars Characters of all time. After the live-action debut of the second season of The Mandalorian, it was no surprise that Lucasfilm announced that the actress would reprise her role.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress suggested that filming is coming to an end. The creator of the show is Ahsoka's spiritual papa Dave Filoni.

Castings of characters that first appeared alongside Ahsoka while she operated as the Rebel spy Fulcrum in Star Wars: Rebels have given some insight into an otherwise closely guarded plot. Recently it was confirmed that Eman Esfandi will be stepping into the role of Jedi apprentice with Doctor Dolittle-like powers, as well as being the mandalorian with a penchant for graffiti. This shows that the show will tie up a major loose end from Rebels.

The latter is a fan-favorite villain who was explored in the Thrawn novel series but has yet to make his live-action debut. We know that Ray Stevenson is going to play a villain, but The Hollywood Reporter doesn't think he's Thrawn.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who played Huntress in Birds of Prey, is one of the actors attached to the show. They haven't been confirmed yet.

The same can not be said for the actor who will reprise his role as Darth Vader in the next movie.

Skeleton Crew

  • Release date: 2023
  • Cast: Jude Law

Skeleton Crew is a great place to go if you like Stand By Me and The Goonies. The coming-of-age story follows a group of children as they try to find their way home. The show is the brainchild of Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, who will both direct and serve as executive producers.

Ford made it very clear to the audience that Skeleton Crew is not a children's show. The show will feature Jude Law, who will be making his Star Wars universe debut.

We are currently experiencing a kind of 80s revival, revival... perhaps the time is ripe for an Amblin Entertainment-style romp in a galaxy far, far away?

Lando

Lando from Solo: A Star Wars Story

  • Release date: TBA
  • Cast: TBA

We need to see more of Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian. The smooth card shark who's turned heel and back more times than we can count is set to receive his own series on Disney+, but precious few details have surfaced since it was announced in 2020.

Little is known about the project other than that it will behelmed by a writer and producer from Dear White People, but Disney has been banking on the return of Donald Glover as the character.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy was able to shed some light on the upcoming TV show's status recently, when CinemaBlend interviewed her at Star Wars Celebration. There is nothing moving. It isn't for lack of trying, but he's got another series and then he'll come our way.

His busy schedule is making it hard for him to focus on writing, producing, directing and a much-lauded music career. It would be a shame if he didn't get to play the smuggler in the movie.

There is a lot of speculation regarding Lando's plot, but nothing has been verified. Billy Dee Williams may or may not be involved in a flash forward following his return to live action in The Rise of Skywalker. The door is still open according to Kennedy.

Don't worry Donald, come on. Don't let us go down.

Young Jedi Adventures

This upcoming Star Wars TV show could be the perfect solution to ease your child into a universe far, far away if they are worried about pledge their allegiance to the Emperor before Return of the Jedi.

The show will follow a group of younglings as they learn the ways of the force, similar to The Acolyte. The names of two characters on the final day of D23 were revealed by Star Wars. The same post gave a look at some of the characters. You are not the target audience for the cutesy 3D art style.

Mandalorian – season 3

The Mandalorian in The Mandalorian season 3

  • Release date: 2023
  • Cast: Pedro Pascal, Giancarlo Esposito, Katee Sackhoff, Carl Weathers

Man with No Name-inspired Mandalorian is the third season of the Star Wars TV show. The Book of Boba Fett turned into Mando season 2.5 and we missed Grogu and Mando.

Mando was kicked out of the Tribe for removing his chrome dome, even though he had been reacquainted with Baby Jedi. The armorer told him that only the Living Waters could restore his status. During the Great Purge of Mandalore, the planet was almost completely destroyed.

If you've watched the new trailer, you'll have seen the return of Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan Kryze, Carl Weathers' Greef Karga, and lots and lots of Mandalorians. We can't wait.

Visions Volume 2

  • Release date: Spring 2023
  • Cast: TBA

The second volume of animated Star Wars shorts will be released in the spring. The non-canonical anthology was originally an amalgam of nine episodes from eight Japanese studios, but is set to draw influences from across the globe this time. Visions' take on the Star Wars universe was refreshing and we can't wait to see how it's interpreted.

The Bad Batch – season 2

Emperor Palpatine in The Bad Batch

  • Release date: Jan 4 2023
  • Cast: Dee Bradley Baker, Michelle Ang

Clone Force 99 is an animated series that was created by Dave Filoni. The aftermath of Order 66 is one of the least explored periods in the Skywalker Saga. Hunter and his crew reject the Imperial Empire and head off to find a new home in a different universe.

The Clone Wars and Rebels are responsible for some of the best Star Wars moments of all time, but took a while to hit their stride and we think The Bad Batch is the better debut. After the home of Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, Echo and Omega was destroyed in the first season, it looks like Crosshair is the least of their problems. There is plenty of action in the trailer that dropped at Star Wars Celebration 2022.
