He has done it a second time.

Eliud Kipchoge set a new world record in the Berlin Marathon on Sunday.

The athlete shaved 30 seconds off his previous best time on the same course.

The athlete said that his legs and body still feel young. My mind is the most important thing and it feels fresh. I broke the world record.

The women's race was won by Ethiopia's Tigist Assefa, who was 18 minutes faster than she had run before. It was the fastest three times.

Even though they had faster times, Assefa was not afraid of them.

Rosemary Wanjiru was second on her debut in 2:18:00, just behind Ethiopia's Tigist Abayechew who was third in 2:18:03.

After a night of showers, the conditions in the German capital were ideal for fast racing. The first Berlin Marathon was held without restrictions since the outbreak of the coronaviruses.

The 2020 race was called off due to the Pandemic after the number of participants was reduced by half.

The marathoner set off at a furious pace on Sunday, covering the first 10 kilometers in just 28:23 and finishing at the 15k mark. He broke the two-hour barrier in Vienna in a race that did not conform to regulations.

Defending champion Guye Adola dropped back a few meters as Eliud Kipchoge sprinted away.

The two runners completed the half marathon in 59 minutes. Mark Korir and Bethwel Yegon followed.

I was going to go out fast in the first half.

At the 25k-mark, the last one dropped off, leaving Kipchoge on his own.

In 1:25:40, he slowed down to reach the 30k mark. After 21 seconds behind, Belihu dropped further back.

It was just a question of whether he could break his record. The man did.

Mark Korir was nearly five minutes behind. The fourth place winner was Belihu, who finished in 2:06: 40.
