There have been plenty of bizarre things in travel this year but you can bump this incident to the top of the list. An almost two-minute video has gone viral on TikTok and Twitter, showing passengers reacting to what appears to be someone hacking into an American Airlines public address system.

I thought it was a prank when I heard about it, but once I watched the video, I realized it wasn't.

The strangest flight ever was filmed by an actor with the handleActuallyEmerson. The sounds started before the plane took off. After landing they had no idea what it was.

The weirdest flight ever. These sounds started over the intercom before takeoff and continued throughout the flight.

"ActuallyEmerson" was written by Emerson Collins.

When he was on the American Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Dallas, he filmed about 15 minutes of the noises and uploaded it to his website. He said in the video that someone on the flight broke into the system and made a noise.

The passenger punched the flight attendant in the back of the head.

You can hear the flight attendant say, "Ladies and gentlemen, we realize there is an extremely annoying sound coming over the public announcement" Please be patient as the flight deck tries to turn it off. While we try to figure out how to turn it off, we would appreciate your attention for a few more moments.

In the next clip, you can hear the captain say that they are looking into things to do to mitigate that. Will let them know when we arrive in Dallas.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Collins said that it happened for the first half hour of the flight and that he took out his phone and began recording. Many people were snoozing and some had slipped on their headphones, but Collins wanted the full experience and was amused by it.

Say it is so. The best online booking feature has been eliminated by American Airlines.

Gary Leff from View From The Wing said that American Airlines inspected the plane after the reports. The sounds were caused by an issue with the amplifier. There wasn't any access to the system from outside.

I don't believe that it was a malfunctioning P.A., but I can understand AA's desire to try and quash worries about any spooky occurrences on their aircrafts.

Bradley P. Allen, a technology executive from Manhattan Beach, couldn't believe what he was hearing when he stumbled across the video on social media. He had a strange experience on an American Airlines flight from JFK to Los Angeles in July.

Swift has a clever tip for flying Southwest Airlines.

There are reports of this happening again on an American Airlines flight from John Wayne Airport to Dallas.

At this point I don't know what to do with this whole thing. The additional details were tricked in, but didn't add much. Thehacked into part is the part I am having the most trouble with, it doesn't feel physically possible. I can't for the life of me figure out what the answer is.

What are you thinking? Is this a prank or a malfunction?
