There is a chance that Jake Paul will fight in a courtroom.

Matchroom Boxing's Eddie Hearn, one of the sport's most influential promoter, filed a lawsuit Friday against Paul accusing him of defamation after Paul accused Matchroom of paying off a judge in two separate fights this year.

The case was filed in New York. The attorneys for Matchroom and Hearn are seeking more than 100 million dollars in damages. The lawsuit was first reported by the gossip website.

There is a line between opinion and defamation. Jake Paul crossed that line when he wrongly accused Matchroom of fixing fights. He was given an opportunity to apologize, but he didn't.

Paul said in an interview with IFL TV that he believed a boxing judge was getting paid to score bouts for Matchroom. The judge who scored the Oleksandr Usyk vs. Anthony Joshua fight in Saudi Arabia was also a judge on the Serrano-Taylor fight.

Two judges ruled in favor of Taylor. The only judge who scored the bout for Joshua was Feldman. Matchroom Fighters are Taylor and Joshua. The first-ever female boxing main event at Madison Square Garden will feature Taylor vs. Serrano.

Paul said it was like a repeated crime here. I'm going to call it out in boxing because it's bulls---. This guy is getting paid by Matchroom boxing.

The team of Paul wasn't available for comment. After making his name as a wildly popular YouTube star and social-media influencer, Paul went on to become a professional boxer. Paul started to promote fights last year.

The Fight of the Year candidate was the Usyk vs. Joshua bout and the Taylor vs. Serrano contest was close. The attorney wrote that Paul admitted in the interview that he was making a bold statement with regards to the allegations and that the judges were not hired by Matchroom.

"These accusations are offensive as well as damaging to Matchroom andHearn," wrote a partner in the New York law firm of the same name. "They are not true at all."

The complaint says that Paul's statements caused a media and social media frenzy. There is a complaint that says a jury trial is needed.

Paul intended to cause financial and reputational harm toHearn and Matchroom when he made the outrageous accusations.
