With uncertainty surrounding their wide receiver position heading into Sunday's home opener against the Green Bay Packers, the team elevated Cole Beasley from the practice squad.

Mike Evans, who is serving a one-game suspension for his role in last week's melee, is one of three Pro Bowlers who are no longer with the team.

After missing Week 2's victory at New Orleans, Jones was able to return to practice. He is listed as questionable for Sunday. The plight of the position is illustrated by the fact that wide receiver Russell Gage and Breshad Perriman are both carrying injuries.

After spending the week trying to get up to speed with wide receiver coach Kevin Garver, he said there is some carryover from previous offenses, which included his first seven years with the Dallas Cowboys.

He understands the system and is quick to catch up. He's got a lot of reps under him and I think he'll be ready if we needed him.

He wasn't sure if he'd get a chance to play in the NFL again, having not been part of a training camp for the first time in his career. He wanted to play with Brady because of his reliance on slot players. It wasn't until the rash of injuries opened up a spot for him in the receiver room that he began reaching out to Brady.

It's exciting for me because I've been wanting to play with Brady for a long time. I'm looking forward to getting back at it. It's a long wait, and it's a lot of work. I have never been through a training camp before. I need to catch up a lot.

The situation is perfect. I'm happy to be involved in it. I will fulfill whatever role I'm in. I'm here to help wherever they need me.

He said he was getting more and more used to it. He was concerned about adjusting to the heat and humidity, a problem he encountered when the Bills and Bucs played in overtime last year. There is a 30% chance of rain and a high of 90 degrees in the city.

I was gassed trying to return. It was difficult to get back in that stadium. I will remember that. I will remember that and come up short.

"Beasley will adjust," said Leftwich.

It takes a while to get used to it. I didn't see anything in practice. He would get more reps in a game than he did in practice. He knows how to do that and is a veteran.
