New Orleans Pelicans guard CJ McCollum has agreed on a two-year, $64 million extension that’ll take him through 2025-2026, his agent Sam Goldfeder of @Excelbasketball tells ESPN. New deal ties McCollum to Pels for four years and $133M.

There had been rumors that an extension was on the way. On the July 6 episode of The Hoop Collective, Brian Windhorst said that the New Orleans and Portland teams were going to begin contract talks soon.

The second year of McCollum's three-year, $100 million extension is the 2022-23 season.

In February, New Orleans made a trade with the Portland Trail blazers. He spent nine seasons in Portland after being drafted in the 10th round.

Over the final 30 games of the regular season, the Pelicans recorded a 16-14 record. The San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers were eliminated in the play-in tournament.

There was a question about Zion's future coming into the summer. He was given a five-year extension worth up to $231 million.

Going into the 2022-23 season, McCollum is going to be a crucial glue guy for the younger players. He has more regular-season and playoffs experience than most of his teammates.

The ceiling of New Orleans will be determined by the number of games Williamson plays. Even in a deep Western Conference, there is tremendous potential in the core of Herbert Jones.

After the trade, he played some of the best basketball of his life. He averaged 24.3 points on 49.3 percent field- goal shooting and 5.8 assists per game.
