According to local reports, a Michigan radio host and his family were brutally attacked in their home by a guest who attempted to kill himself. Jim Matthews and his girlfriend and 2 children were in a condo in the Detroit area when they invited a man who lives across the street. The man and Matthews' girlfriend have been seen by neighbors before. Matthew's girlfriend and his daughter made it out of the condo alive and flagged down a driver. His girlfriend and daughter had been stabbed. Police officers had to force their way into the apartment after the driver called for help. A boy was found bound and beaten in a closet. Police went to the basement where they found the suspect who had overdosed on heroin. The girlfriend and son of Matthews were in critical condition. The girl was in stable condition. Narcan saved the suspect's life. He was in stable condition at the hospital. WWJ Newsradio 950 commented on Matthews. Jim will be missed and there have been many tears shed in the newsroom. Our thoughts are with Jim's family and friends. Criminal charges were being weighed by authorities. The police chief said that the tragedy did not present a danger to the community.
