Iguodala will return to play for the Golden State Warriors after 19 years in the NBA, he said on his show.
The 14th roster spot is filled by his return. This will be Iguodala's last season.
Iguodala joked that he would blame a few people when he decided to play another season. I will blameSteph Curry. I am blaming all of them. They showed me a lot of love. They helped me see my presence outside of basketball, but I think Steve was responsible for that. Draymond was very interested in that.
The Warriors tried not to put too much pressure on Iguodala to make a decision. The Warriors felt like they needed to rush Iguodala because no deals came to them over the summer.
After talking with his teammates, Warriors staff members and his family, Iguodala decided to come back.
In 31 games last year, Iguodala averaged four points on 30 percent shooting, 3.8 assists and 3.2 rebound. He missed the last six games of the regular season and the first month of the playoffs with a disk injury. Iguodala's role is much more than the court for the Warriors.
"There's so much that he does that is not on the court and there's a lot he does on the court, too," Warriors general manager Bob Myers said in a press conference. It's difficult to find that kind of leadership on a team that he brings. I can talk to him even for Steve and myself. He is smart. He's familiar with our team. He's a good person. He's familiar with the league. He's been to many places. It's crazy that he's played in many Finals. He's a person you want around.
Iguodala said he was looking forward to playing but he was on Kuminga and Moody. I'm on the young guys and I'm letting them know if I get on this court that I'm not doing anything right. You shouldn't let me on the court.
Iguodala came back to Golden State to help the team win their fourth title in eight years and cement Curry's legacy. After that, Iguodala was going to hang it up, but his teammate told him he needed him again.
Iguodala looked directly into the camera. It's the last one.
