The chairman of Mercedes-Benz said during a meeting with reporters that the electric G-Wagen will arrive in the mid- 20th century.

The future of off-road adventure is electric, according to Kllenius, who drove a prototype version of the electric SUV at the company's testing facility in Austria.

The company wouldn't confirm any production plans for the electric SUV when it was first unveiled. Kllenius didn't know if the G-Wagen would have a future in 2019. The electric version of the off-roader is on the way.

According to Kllenius, the electric G-Wagen was only 24 months away. It is nice to be confirmed.

We are still light on details despite this. There are no estimates for range, battery size, or power output. It stands to reason that the production version will have all-wheel drive as well.

The electric G-Wagen was more of a design exercise than a vehicle. It was the first attempt at modifying the new generation of the G-Class that Mercedes-Benz showed off at the Detroit auto show.

The two-tone paint job that Mercedes-Benz used on the first edition of its electric EQS sedan was used on the concept EQG. The illuminated grille is one of the things the company has beenying with.

When the production EQG arrives in mid-2024), it will join an ever-crowded field of electric vehicles that can handle rough terrain.

The G-Wagen has always been as much of a status symbol vehicle as it is about venturing off-road, so expect the production EQG to be loaded with all the same kinds of features that Mercedes-Benz has been rolling out.

The electric G-Wagen could be something to behold if Mercedes-Benz can give it the same kind of range and performance that it is getting on its new electric vehicle platform.

The company will invest 40 billion in the effort to go all-electric.
