In a rare move, Toyota has decided to stop vehicle production at its lone car plant in Russia.
Nissan Motor Co. and Honda Motor Co halted operations at their plants in March. The facility was kept ready to restart production if necessary.
The company has not been able to resume normal activities after six months.
In May and June of this year, deliveries of cars in Russia plummeted more than 80%. Chinese companies have filled the void left by western brands by increasing their share of sales.
Toyota said its operations in Moscow need to be restructured, but it didn't give any details on what it would do. The company will provide service and support to existing customers in Russia.
