By no means am I guaranteeing that Tua Tagovailoa and Daniel Jones will become successful long-term NFL starters at the quarterback position, but there is no denying that many wrote them off before they even took the field.
Both Tagovailoa and Jones are among the highest-rated passers in the league.
There is hope after the 2020 No. 5 overall pick lit up the Baltimore Ravens in an incredible Week 2 comeback victory. Tua led the league with 739 passing yards, while Jones had completed 70.9 percent of his passes for the Giants, who have a chance to achieve a 2-0 start.
Both Jones Giants and Tagovailoa's Dolphins are perfect.
If teams are going to spend a lot of money on a quarterback, they should be patient.
Fan bases are less patient than ever. Three seasons of Game of thrones is better than three seasons of Daniel Jones growing pains.

The league used to wait longer for young quarterbacks. You don't have to go back to when Manning led the league with 28 picks as a first-year player.
In his first three seasons with the Packers, Rodgers did not start a game. In his first two years, Philip Rivers didn't see much of the field, but in his fifth year, he became the most Valuable Player. Matthew Stafford, who won the Super Bowl, started just 13 games in his first two pro seasons, while Alex Smith, who won the Super Bowl, started just a few games.
There is a chance that both Tagovailoa and Jones will go away. Both of them could become stars. Based on the nature of first-round selections at the most critical position, one will pan out and the other won't.
It should serve as a lesson for the Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears and New EnglandPatriots. Executives, coaches and fans associated with those five teams are starting to get restless over their sophomore first-round passer. With the train-wreck 2021, Jags, Lawrence, Wilson, and Lance were thrown into a near impossible situation, while the injured Lance will have just four starts under his belt in his second season.
Courtney Culbreath/Getty ImagesIf Jimmy Garoppolo plays well the rest of the season, what will happen? Does the 49ers brass want to pull the chute quickly? Lance cost the 49ers three first-round picks and a third-round pick. It is likely that all four of those guys will get three years. They are each owed at least one more.
It depends on what we see from Jones and Tua for the rest of the season The copycat dynamics will eventually trickle down to how the Pittsburgh Steelers handle Kenny Pickett, who has yet to take a regular-season snap but will certainly gain some reps unlessMitch Trubisky suddenly turns it around.
My advice to the decision-makers is to chill out. Let's not make a big deal out of it. Wait to see how this season plays out for up-in-the-air young signal-callers like Jones and Tagovailoa, as well as how future seasons play out for the likes of Lawrence, Wilson, Lance, Fields and Pickett.
