Garmin introduces its first smart blood pressure monitor

There is an FDA-cleared smart blood pressure monitor that accompanies its other health focused Wearables. The index bpm smart blood pressure monitor can be used to measure blood pressure and sync it with the garmin connect mobile app and other garmin devices

All of your health and fitness data can be viewed in a single app, helping to give you a more complete look at your health.

The data collected by the index is uploaded to the mobile app.

Users can set reminders to take their blood pressure, with readings available to view in 7-day, 4-week, and 1-year reports, which can be exported as a PDF for sharing with a health care provider. Users can use the index to track their individual readings and sync to their own accounts, and the cuff can be adjusted to fit arm sizes from 9-17 inches in circumference. There is a potential battery life of up to nine months.

The size of the device is similar to an In Reach satellite phone. We will have to live with that bulk for a while since we don't know how suitable watches are for blood pressure monitoring.

The FDA-cleared Withings BPM Connect is one of several smart blood pressure monitors released by Withings. This is the first attempt at a smart BPM device by the company.
