The Iron Widow is the best-selling YA sci-fi fantasy and was bought by Picturestart.
The production company got the rights to adapt and plan a potential franchise for the novel. J.C. Lee, who wrote the script for the upcoming Bad Genius remake, is going to write the script for Penguin Teen.
Auther, who racked up a string of praise for their debut novel, was excited on social media. The author and content creator Xiran Jay Zhao said that at the start of 2020 he was penniless and had to get a real job for his parents. It's doable and we enjoy seeing it.
The novel is about an 18-year-old girl who offers herself up as a concubine-pilot to assassinate the ace male pilot responsible for her sister's death. She kills him through the psychic link between pilots and comes out unscathed. She is dubbed an Iron Widow because she can sacrifice boys to power up the colony. She will not cower now that she has tasted power. She will not be able to use their combined might and infamy to survive attempt after attempt on her life until she knows why the pilot system works in its misogynist way.
The second book in the series is due next year. We will keep you posted on Iron Widow related news.
