The personal information that you'd rather not have out there for the rest of the world may be able to be erased.

The "remove result" button will allow users to remove results from the search engine that contain personal information.

The information that can be removed includes phone numbers, home addresses, email addresses, social security numbers, bank account numbers, credit card numbers, and medical records.

This week, the new tool began to be used in Europe and the U.S.

Users can ask for information to be removed if it is deemed illegal.

Those who have access can click on the three dots in the top right of the search result page to go to a menu.

Users can click on "about this result" and then "remove result", which will take them to a page where they can request that the result be removed.

The availability of other information that is broadly useful is not limited by the tool.

As of Thursday morning, Alphabet was down 29% in one year.
