Nobody knows for certain how the Elf Brownie came to be the first mascot of the Cleveland Browns.

The elf was put on the shelf by Art Modell after he bought the team.

Modell told reporters at the time that he would be getting rid of that little f---er.

Brownie is larger than before.

Brownie returned as the team's logo after topping a preseason online fan vote.

The latest caricature of Brownie spans the 45 yard lines horizontally, exceeds the hashmarks vertically, and can be easily seen from the sky.

You're not alone if you're confused about Brownie's role as an NFL mascot.

"I'm not sure what to think about it," said Cleveland pass-rusher. It is unique. I like the dog a lot. Is it possible that we've got an elf?

We're a little confused about what we want to do.

Brownie's grandiloquent debut was ruined by one of the most inexplicable losses in franchise history. The Cleveland team blew a 13 point lead in the final two minutes. The New York Jets scored a 66-yard touchdown, recovered an onside kick, and then scored a second touchdown to stun the Cleveland Indians. More than 5% of voters blame Brownie for the defeat in a fan poll.

Heading into Thursday night's clash with Pittsburgh, Cleveland's logo may be 0-1. Prime video. Brownie was the boyish face of the most dominant dynasty. He almost became the helmet's logo.

The legend of the brownies started in Britain around the early 16th century. The first mention of the Brownies came in 1522.

The mythical creature is a small, hairy creature that lives in houses and farms with people. He takes a range of domestic and agricultural chores in order to get free board and lodging from the humans.

Brownies can be difficult to please.

Milk and bread are left out for Brownies at night. They don't like being spied on while they work or eat. They don't like either compliment or criticism.

Any gift of clothes makes him angry. It's seen as an insult or something. He will ruin the house, then leave forever.

The Dobby character in the Harry Potter books is a descendant of the Brownie legend. The Girl Scouts began referring to their members as "Brownies" in 1916, after reading a story called "The Brownies and Other Tales".

The bottles of the beer were adorned with an elf. The company put a sign on the side of a building to promote their product.

Paul Brown was the head coach at Massillon High School before he became the head coach of the ClevelandBrowns.

The Obie logo was created by A.D. Small, who was commissioned by Brown to create it in 1940.

Brown was hired to coach Cleveland's new pro football team after serving in the U.S. navy. The team held a contest to find a nickname. The submission was in honor of the first coach. Brown made a decision to veto it. The team decided to go with the "Panthers" until a local businessman told them he was the owner of the rights to the "Cleveland panthers". Brown relented on the name of the group.

The team needs a logo.

Barry Shuck has been researching the origin of the Brownie the Elf for years. Is thatMud? There is a dessert. Do you know if the dog poops?

Brownie first appeared in an ad promoting ticket sales days before the Browns’ first game against the Miami Seahawks in 1946. Barry Shuck

Is it possible that Brown came up with the idea for Brownie the Elf? Is it possible that Small produced the drawing?

Shuck said that Obie and Brownie are the same character. Both of them are running." They both had a hard time with their arms. Both of them are wearing hats.

The Cleveland-area newspapers didn't mention Brownie until he appeared in an ad promoting ticket sales days before the first game of the Cleveland Brown's inaugural season.

Steve King has been researching the conception of Brownie the Elf for many years. He asked Mike Brown if he knew where Brown came from.

King found the same conclusion as Shuck.

King said that he had gotten as close as anyone would get. The mystery of Brownie is what makes it so cool.

The Cleveland Browns won four consecutive All-America Football Conference titles from 1946 to 1969.

On game days, Tommy Flynn would dress up as Brownie and be on the sideline.

What is the name of the elf?

• Minkah Fitzpatrick leading the Steelers

• How Jalen Hurts won over the Eagles

• Bills defense stays hot despite injuries

• Burrow not immune from early struggles

• Concerns mount for Saints' O, Winston

Tommy Flynn would throw his hands up if Paul Brown did the same. Tommy Flynn would slam Paul Brown's hat on the ground if he took his hat off.

The Browns joined the NFL in 1950. The Elf and Cleveland continued to win. The team won a championship in their first year in the league.

Brown wanted to show Brownie more. The Brownie logo was put on a Cleveland helmet to see what it would look like.

King said thatLeo is proud and finally gets it done. He went to Paul Brown's office and put it on his desk. Brown looked at it and said he did not like it. It's time to take it away.

Murphy told King that he had a secret to show him.

King said that the man brought out the helmet. The Elf on the side has a helmet on.

Murphy passed away in the year. It's a mystery as to what happened to his helmet.

Brownie the ELF was on the cover of Cleveland's media guide. Modell got rid of Brownie. Jim Brown was on the media guide cover.

Brownie's spirit was kept alive by the Cleveland Plain-Dealer's cartoon artist Dick Dugan. The reader could tell if the team had won or lost by looking at the cartoons.

"My first official act as owner of the Browns will be to get rid of that little f---er." Former Browns owner Art Modell

The elf was proud if the Browns won. He looked like he had been beaten up if the browns lost.

Modell moved the team to Baltimore in 1995. Four years after the return of the Browns, they reinstated Brownie.

The legend has come back.

The training camp logo was called Brownie. The mascot made his first appearance in 2015.

Since becoming Cleveland's head coach in 2020, Kevin has been wearing a Brownie the Elf cap. Brownie is on the sleeves of the jerseys.

He is the face of Cleveland.

We won seven crowns with the elf. "What do you think?" I might come in here with a little elf outfit on if we win an eighth title.
