In a new interview, former President Trump said that presidents don't have to go through a formal process to declassify sensitive documents.

The former president said that he declassified secret and top secret documents he took with him to his Florida home after he left the White House in 2021.

Trump said that there doesn't need to be a process. You can declassify if you are the president of the US. Pondering about it.

It doesn't have to be a process. The president makes that decision. When you send it, it is classified. Everything was de classified.

The intelligence agencies that manage records must take additional steps after a president declassifies them.

After leaving the White House, the former president took with him all of the documents that were classified. Dozens of classified, secret and top secret documents were found in a January search of his Mar-a-Lago estate.

Despite a month of the former president saying he did not declassify records, Trump's attorneys in a filing last week said he had the power to do so.

The Justice Department pointed out that the legal team was insinuating that Trump had declassified the documents.

The General Services Administration and other White House staff were involved in packing up boxes at the end of the president's term.

IT support, financial management, parking, furniture, vehicles, office equipment and administrative support are included in the GSA's role in the transition phase.

The GSA works with theNARA to provide support to the former Presidents in the establishment and maintenance of their libraries. In the event of a change of administration, these services are only available.
