  • There are nuclear missiles in Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, North Dakota, and Montana.

  • The US Air Force does not allow the construction of wind turbine within 2 miles of missiles.

  • The wind turbine project in Banner County was limited due to underground missiles.

Cold War America's remains are located in Nebraska's Banner County.

In the 1960s, when the US was locked in a nuclear stalemate with the Soviet Union, it began planting hundreds of nuclear missiles in rural areas like Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, North Dakota and Montana.

The missiles are preventing the region from using its most valuable resource.

The Flat Water Free Press reported last week that the US Air Force stopped a wind turbine project in Banner County.

Banner was praised by two renewable energy companies for its "world class winds." They were going to build a lot of turbine across the region.

Each turbine would bring in an additional $15,000 in annual income to the owner of the land. Banner's school system would have been rejuvenated and the capital from the turbine would have flowed into it.

The Air Force said that the turbine would pose a serious safety hazard to pilots. The Air Force decided that the turbines needed to be built 2.3 miles away from each other so that pilots wouldn't have to dig their wheels into a missile. A quarter mile between each turbine was enough.

The number of turbines that could be constructed was cut in half by the new guidelines.

The residents of Banner have been frustrated by the Air Force's new guidelines. How do we leave that?
