The Los Angeles Lakers and Indiana Pacers were talking about a trade, but the Pacers wanted too much.

“I'm told the Lakers and Pacers did engage in some trade conversations this week and the Pacers' demand for two unprotected first-round picks … is just not appealing for the Lakers.”

Both Turner and Hield have been mentioned in Lakers-Pacers trade talks, speculation and rumors. The Lakers weren't willing to part with their first-round picks for the duo.

Pacers general manager Chad Buchanan said on the Kevin & Query show that Indiana expects to start the season with Evan Turner, who missed most of last season with a stress reaction in his left foot.

After being traded from the Kings, Hield averaged 18.2 points in 26 games for the Pacers.

The Lakers have been involved in a lot of trade talks this season, with point guard Russell Westbrook linked to a potential deal with the Nets.

Changing the supporting cast around the Big Three of Westbrook, James and Davis was one of the Lakers' moves this season.
