Herron was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders by the New England Pats in order to make room for him on the roster.

According to sources familiar with the terms, the Raiders will get a sixth-round pick from the Pats in the trade, while Herron and a seventh-round pick go to the Raiders.

The 6-foot-5, 301-pound Herron, who started 11 games for New England during the 2020 and 2021 seasons, is projected as a possible starter at right tackle or a top swing tackle.

The teams did not announce the trade, but the general manager was presented with the chance to acquire Herron, according to the team's spokesman.

A guy that we have some familiarity with, has played tackle in a lot of games, and has someVersatility. A young player is developing.

We'll let him compete and get used to what we're doing before we make a decision. We feel like he has some upside and we're looking forward to developing him.

The Raiders lost a projected starting right tackle to a season-ending injury in the opening week of the preseason and then released a first-round draft pick after struggling.

In the first two games of the season, Eluemunor has started at right tackle and Munford has started at left tackle.

The two people who worked closely with Herron after he was selected in the sixth round of the 2020 draft are the two people who worked with them before. The two teams practiced together before the preseason finale and they saw him.

He started two regular-season games at left tackle and two regular-season games at right tackle, and also started the playoffs at left tackle. He did not play in the first two games.

Herron was honored by the police department for helping to stop the attempted sexual assault in the park.
