Ways to earn points

It's easy to earn points in the program. You will receive.

  • 1 point for every night you spend on a ship.
  • An additional 1 point per night when staying in a Concierge-level cabin, full-fare suite (not mini-suites or club balcony suites) or The Haven rooms.
  • An additional 1 point per night when on a cruise booked via a Latitudes Rewards Insider Offer. These are special offers for Latitudes Rewards members.

The extra point per night only applies to stays in suites that were originally booked. It doesn't apply to stays in suites that are upgraded.

You will get all of the above and a 15% discount on internet packages once you reach Platinum. On Norwegian, internet packages can be expensive.

Two free dinners at some of the top restaurants on Norwegian ships are available at the Platinum level.

The value of this perk has been expanded by Norwegian. One of the free dinners, which included a free bottle of wine, used to only be available at the Cagney's steakhouses and Le Bistro French eateries. Guests can book it at any onboard restaurant that has a wine list.

Platinum members get the same thing.

  • Priority check-in and embarkation.
  • Access to a Concierge to help with dining, entertainment and shore excursion reservations.
  • Chocolate-covered strawberries delivered to their room.
  • A Wines Around the World tasting.
  • A behind-the-scenes ship tour (this perk has been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
  • A higher, 30% discount on photos.
  • A higher, 25% discount on spa treatments.
  • A dedicated pre-cruise service desk.

Platinum members can book entertainment, dining and onboard activities up to 125 days before sailing.

Norwgian's new class of ships may be its best yet.

Best elite perks

You will get priority restaurant and entertainment seating, a dinner with ship officers, and all of the above perks once you reach the high level of the program. When shipboard restaurants are busy, you won't be stuck dining too early or late, which is a wonderful perk. It also means that you can get a decent seat at the theater with the knowledge that you're going to see a show.

The Diamond tier has two new perks, one of which is a one-time free cabin upgrade.

The ambassador tier is where the ultimate perk comes from. You will get a seven-night cruise for free. You can choose any destination, but you can't choose a holiday sailing.

There is a free cruise. You will pay for their fares if you bring more than one guest. All taxes, fees and service charges will be paid by you. After you become an Ambassador elite, you can take a free cruise.

There are eight classes of Norwegian Cruise Line ships.

The Ambassador level members get larger discounts on shore excursions. The discount on shore excursions is 15% for members of the diamond and sapphires clubs. It goes up to 20% for ambassadors.

Ambassador level members get larger discounts on internet packages. The discount on internet service is 20%. For Diamond and Ambassador level members, it goes up to 25%.

The Ambassador level requires 700 points in order to be reached. You may have to take as many as 100 cruises to qualify. You could get to the Ambassadors level in as few as 34 seven-night sailings if you stay in higher-end cabins.

Do NCL Latitudes Rewards points expire?

No, Norwegian Cruise Line's loyalty points are always valid.

Norwegian customers don't have to requalify for status every year. At the end of the year, members of the rewards program accumulate points. Until Norwegian changes the program, someone who hits Ambassador status will remain at that top tier level.

Cruises with "forever status" are one of the great attractions of the program. Most airline frequent flyer programs don't require loyalty members to requalify.

Bottom line

One of the more popular cruiser programs is offered by Norwegian. After just a few cruises, loyal fans will find they are entitled to a lot of perks, from discounts on various types of onboard spending to exclusive cocktail parties. Platinum-level eateries have free dinners that come with them.
