The new Framework laptop edition is a partnership between Framework and GOOGLE. The same company that made the Framework laptop last year made this one.

It's rare for user-upgradable laptops to be as rare as user-upgradable Chromebooks. It is a step in the right direction for repairability in the laptop space as a whole, despite the size of the audience for such a device.

There are multiple parts of the Framework that are user-customizable, but it is not clear if they can be adjusted on the Chromebooks. The purchase page for the part is brought up if the part is scanned.

The expansion card system in the Windows edition is the same as the expansion card system in the Chromebooks Edition. I don't know of any other laptop that can do this, and it's my favorite part of Framework's model. According to the press release, you can choose between a variety of storage options. It's a convenient option to have on a Chromebooks.

If you want it, you can upgrade memory and storage, but I don't expect it to be as high for most Chromebooks as it is for Windows users.

The frames are swappable, as well. There are a few different colors to choose from and you should be able to snap them on and off with ease.

A press release was sent to me by the company. The processor is a big draw of the Windows laptop and I want to know if the rest of the system will be able to be upgraded. The Framework founder said that the Chromebook Edition is compatible with most of the parts in the framework laptop platform.

The Chromebook has a 3:2 display and weighs more than 2 lbs. The 12th Gen Core i5-1240P can be upgraded in the Windows model, but there is no mention of that here. The camera and microphones have a privacy switch. The main reason to buy this laptop is that you can fix it.

The US and Canada have a starting price of $999. The products are expected to arrive in December.
