Three-time champ Buster Posey becomes first former player to join San Francisco Giants ownership group

The first former player to join the team's ownership group will be the catcher who won three World Series titles in a row.

"After his retirement last year, he said that he would always stay involved with the organization, and when he approached us to express his interest in joining the ownership group, we were thrilled that he wanted to make this type of commitment." It is rare for a former player to join his own team's ownership because they want to be involved.

He was a seven-time All-Star and hit.304 in his last season. Pete Rose is the only other player in MLB history to win three World Series rings, as well as being the only other player to win theRookie of the Year and the Most Valuable Player in the same year.

I have always had great respect for the ownership group, many of whom I have gotten to know through the years, who provided the support for me and my teammates to achieve the successes we did.

The youngest of the principals of the San Francisco Baseball ASSOCIATES group is Posey.

He was the fifth Giants player to play his entire career with the team. He caught three no-hitters. He's one of eight catchers to have been selected to five All-Star Games, win the Most Valuable Player Award and win a World Series title. The Hall of Fame has five of the others.
