Air traveler satisfaction fell by 25 points due to fewer flights, crowded terminals and limited food and beverage offerings, according to new data.
Overall customer satisfaction at North American airports fell 25 points due to flight cancellation and crowded terminals.
The study shows that 58 percent of travelers think the terminal is crowded, which is close to the 59 percent who think the same in 2019.
In the last two years, the number of travelers who did not purchase food or beverages at the airport has gone up. Fourteen percent of travelers said parking was more expensive than anticipated.
The combination of demand for air travel, a nationwide labor shortage and rising prices on everything from jet fuel to a bottle of water have created a situation in which airports are extremely crowded and passengers are increasingly frustrated.
In some ways, this is a return to normal as larger crowds at airports tend to make travelers more flustered, but in cases where parking lots are over capacity, gates are standing room only and restaurants and bars are not even open to offer some respite, it is clear that increased capacity in airports
Minneapolis-Saint Paul International was the top ranked mega airport in terms of passenger satisfaction.
Indianapolis International was the highest ranked medium airport.
