To get the final NBArank prediction, we asked our experts to vote on pairs of players.
We wanted to know which player would be better in 2022-23. The voters had to guess what the players would do.

The NBArank panel, made up of over 200 reporters, editors, producers and analysts, was asked to rank players based on their predicted contributions for the 2022-23 season only.

The swing skill is pull-up shooting. His 3-point shot will be a big part of his development. As a first-year player, he attempted 7.2 per game, the most ever by a qualified first-year player. In the second year, that improved to 36%. While he was strong on catch-and-shoot attempts, he needs to improve his off-the-dribble 3s.
How quickly willEdwards develop? Expectations are high. The players who were All-Star and even All-NBA picks a year ago are behind. As a sophomore, he wasn't that good, but his rapid development from low-efficiency scorer to one whose true shooting percentage was almost league average was promising. An All-Star nod and Most Improved Player honors are within reach if Edwards takes the leap.

TheCleveland paid a steep price to acquire Mitchell, a three-time All- Star, to add him as part of their four-man core of players 26 and under. Mitchell is going to be trying to prove that he can be a difference-maker for the team.
The game will be played at New York. The Knicks were thought to be the team to land Mitchell. The New York native is going to visit for the first time.

One of the biggest knocks on Adebayo's game is that he doesn't have a second star on the team. Adebayo scored a career-high 19.1 points per game in the regular season, but only 14.8 points per game in the playoffs. If Adebayo adds to a game that has been defined more by defense and rebound through the first five seasons of his career, Miami could get over the hump in the east.
Adebayo is a max player, an Olympic gold medal and has helped carry the Heat to the Eastern Conference finals in two of the past three seasons, but can he develop his offensive presence more to not only take more pressure off of butler, but the rest The Heat should be in the top of the East again if he succeeds.

Brown hasn't made an All-NBA team in his career.
Can Brown become a better ball handler? Since Udoka arrived, he has stressed that both he and Tatum need to do that. In the last three rounds of the playoffs, Brown averaged more than three turnovers a game. Brown has to improve in those moments if Boston is going to take that final step.

The Mavericks series may have signaled the end of Paul's dominance. The "Point God" averaged just 8.8 points, 6.3 assists, 2.8 turnovers and 4.0 fouls as the Suns lost to Dallas in the second round. The clock is running against him as he enters his 17th season.
In 2022-23, he could exceed his ranking if you don't count outCP3. In Paul's lone season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, he led them to a 44-38 record and a first round series victory over the Houston Rockets, despite the fact that the team was given a small chance of making the playoffs.

It will be the first chance for Laker Nation to see how Davis' course corrects after a disappointing stretch following the 2020 title when the Lakers play the defending champ. The Dubs game is as good of a time as ever for Davis to reestablish himself as one of the most dominant two-way talents in the game.
Davis missed 78 of the Lakers' 154 games the past two seasons because of injuries. Davis did well in his first season in L.A. when the Lakers won it all, because of good health and good fortune.

In 2022-23, he could exceed his ranking because he had a season to forget and had surgery on his wrist. It doesn't mean that people shouldn't pay attention to what Beal can do. He averaged 30.5 points and 31.3 points per game in the past two seasons and will have more talent and depth around him.
How will Kristaps and Beal fit together? Now that Beal is staying in D.C., the Wizards hope that they can get back to the playoffs. Before his wrist injury, Beal had a career-high 6.6 assists. The Wizards could be in the playoffs again if they can stay healthy.

There is a basketball team in Minnesota, called the Minnesota Timberwolves.

After spending the first nine years of his career in Utah, Gobert moved to Minnesota in a blockbuster trade that pairs him with Karl- Anthony Towns, a fellow All-Star big man. It will be interesting to see how coach Chris Finch uses Gobert, a premier screener and finisher, and enhances the scoring ability of Towns and AnthonyEdwards instead of blocking the spacing.
The defensive system called "The Stifle Tower" is a swing skill. The Timberwolves have two of their biggest weaknesses addressed by Gobert. The Timberwolves were seventh worst in the league in defending field goals within six feet. Gobert is one of the stingiest rim protectors each year. The Nets had a lower defensive rebound rate than the Wolves, while Gobert had the highest individual defensive rebound rate.

The swing skill is tough. It remains to be seen if all the minutes he has played since coming into the league in the 2012 season have taken a toll on his body, as his career has been defined by his ability to perform at a high level. Over the last two seasons, he has played in just over 100 games.
One big question for 2022-23 is whether or not the playoffs will be the same as last year. If one more 3-pointer had gone down late in the Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals, the Heat would have been in the Finals for the second year in a row. In the playoffs, he averaged 27.4 points, 7.4 rebound and 4.6 assists, including a 47-point, nine-rebound, eight-assist, four-steal performance in the ECF.

There is one game to watch on December 7. The garden is where Trae likes to visit. What about the garden? The fans there like Trae. It's going to be a must-see whenever Young plays at the Madison Square Garden. Young only played there once last season, missing a Christmas Day game because of health and safety protocols, but he dropped 45 in a win.
Will Dejounte Murray help Young? Murray gives the Hawks one of the best secondary ball handler in the league and will ease some of the burden on Young for a team that is looking to bounce back. Young's efficiency went up last season and could go up again this season.

Prior to the elbow injury, George averaged 25.4 points, 7.1 rebound and 5.6 assists in the month of November. When Leonard returns, George won't have to face a lot of defensive attention on what will be the Clippers' deepest roster since they got together.
Will the Clippers win the West this year? The George-Leonard partnership hasn't played a full season and playoffs together in four years. Tyronn wants to have both of his stars healthy for the playoffs.

He was six spots higher a year ago before being limited to 29 lackluster games by a core muscle injury that ended his season. After hitting better than 39% in the previous two seasons, Lillard's accuracy from 3-point range went down to 32% in the upcoming season. After the Tokyo Olympics, the injury worsened for Lillard. He should be in good shape now.
How will Anfernee Simons fit in with the other person? The guard next to him changed while he was gone. The re-signing of Simons to a four-year, $100 million deal confirms that he is the new backcourt mate of Portland'sCJ McCollum. According to NBA Advanced Stats, the duo played just 377 minutes last season. The Portland Trail blazers need Simons to be the scorer and playmaker that they have been missing.

Whether Towns is the greatest shooting big man of all time depends on the definition. In regards to 3-point shooting, the answer is yes.
Is Towns able to defend power forwards? The addition of Gobert should be relatively painless because of Towns' shooting abilities. There are more questions at the defensive end, where Towns settled in at center after moving between the two front court spots. The majority of Towns' half-court opponents last season were against players who played center. He will have to chase smaller forwards around the perimeter.

Leonard hasn't played since he suffered a partial knee tear in the second round of the 2020-21 playoffs. He's a top five player when healthy. Leonard can return to being one of the top players in the game if he regains his form and stays healthy.
Will Leonard look the same when he comes back? There is no timetable for his return or intel on Leonard. The Clippers will have to keep an eye on Leonard's workload because of the number of back-to-backs they will have before February. The Clippers need to make sure Leonard is at his best for the playoffs because he plays with power and strength.

There is one game to watch. The first game between the 76ers and Harden's team in Philadelphia will get a lot of attention because of how Harden plays.
Is the real Harden going to stand up? After a summer full of videos of Harden working out and preparing for the upcoming campaign, all eyes will be on The Beard in order to see if his form can return, or if the version who wasn't considered for All-NBA consideration is here to stay.
