Microsoft is expected to launch its next generation of Surface devices at an event next month, and an increasing number of rumors have shed light on what form they could take. There is a new 2-in-1 device called the Surface Pro 9.

The 11th Gen models of the Surface Pro 8 and Surface Laptop 4 are expected to be replaced by the 12th Gen models. It expects to see an Intel Core i5-1235U in the entry level models and a Core i7-1255U at the higher end, which should offer single-core performance increases of up to 22% and 12% respectively. Storage is expected to top out at 1 Terabyte.

The 12th Gen Intel processors are the most improved.

The Arm-based processor could be used to power the Surface Pro 9. According to WinFuture, this will be called the Microsoft SQ3 and will be based on the Snapdragon 8cx Gen3 platform. The Surface Pro 9 should support 5G, which is more than can be said for last year's Arm powered Surface Pro X.

WinFuture hasn't seen any evidence of a version of the Surface Laptop 5 powered by anAMD processor The Surface Laptop 4 did not offer a choice of either Intel or Advanced Micro Devices. It wouldn't be surprising to see a Surface Laptop 5 without an option to use the chip from Advanced Micro Devices. At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last year, the company refreshed its laptop processor lineup with the Ryzen 6000 series, and just a few days ago it announced new low-power laptops.

Green and light blue might be the new colors for the Surface Pro 9. The laptop 5 is expected to be available in a larger 15-inch variant and the screen is expected to be the same size as before.

According to WinFuture, the Surface Pro 9 should start at 1,300, which is more than the starting price of the Pro 8. The 15-inch version of the Laptop 5 will cost around $1,487, the same as last year, while the 13.5-inch version will cost around $1,200 more.

According to the leaker, Microsoft will hold an event on October 11th at 12pm.
