Eric Dier confronts fan in stands
Dier confronted a fan in the stands following Tottenham's FA Cup loss to Norwich in March 2020

Eric Dier doesn't want his family to attend away football games because of fan behavior.

He said that abuse was directed at his brother in the Spurs 2-2 draw with the Blues.

The fan behavior has gotten worse.

It is a serious issue for me. At the away game with Spurs, I had some family and friends who had problems.

I wanted to make it clear that it was both sets of fans, not just one set of fans.

Arrests at football matches across the top five English league were at their highest levels in years last season, according to the UK's Football Policing Unit.

Concerns about safety at grounds were raised after a number of pitch invasions at the end of last season.

Dier, who was called up to the England squad for Nations League fixtures this month, said he was able to laugh off jokes from fans after climbing into the stands in 2020.

When Dier went to the stands for the next away game, he saw the fans singing a song about his brother.

There are some things that are very odd. It's not good. My family wouldn't go to an away game because of it, and that's a shame because I don't want them to go to an away game.

This has been going on for a long time. My mother hasn't been to a game. She would like to, but I would be worried about it.

After making his last international appearance in November 2020, Eric Dier is back in the England squad and he believes he is playing at the best level of his career.

"Conte has done a lot for me, but I don't want to sound like a teacher's pet."

I have learned a great deal. There is a lot of emphasis on it with him and I have learned a lot.

With him, you're constantly learning and evolving within that system, constantly adding new things.
