This week, Jimmy Kimmel used his platform to heighten awareness around the coronavirus, through a monologue and a street interview segment that highlight just how ill-informed some still are on the subject.
Despite the rapid spread of the virus across the US, there are people who have no idea what the virus is. "This is my first time hearing about it," one man said when asked about how much he knew. "Explain it to me. What does it do?"
Elsewhere, another person said President Trump has it all under control. "The President said it's going to go away one day so it's not that critical of a deal." Someone even claimed the coronavirus isn't new at all. "It's been around forever. If you ate cattle cubes when you were a kid and licked salt you're safe."
Thankfully, not everyone was totally unaware. "If you're nasty you should be scared," another man said. "If you're not washing your hands, taking care of yourself, being clean, not covering your mouth when you cough and sneeze. If you're just letting all that oxygen fly out into the air, then you should be scared."
