American Airlines Introduces New Flagship Suite – End of First Class?

The Flagship Suite Business Class seats and Premium Economy seat have been introduced by American Airlines. The seats in the Flagship Suite Business Class will have a privacy door and more personal storage space.

The Vice President of Customer Experience said that they are enhancing the customer experience. The arrival of new long-haul aircraft and the design of the Flagship Suite seats will offer customers a truly private premium experience.

In response to customer demand, American is increasing the number of Premium Economy seats on its long-haul aircraft.

Premium seating on American's long-haul fleet will grow more than 45 percent by the year 2026 with the introduction of new interiors. The Boeing 787-9 aircraft will have 51 Flagship Suite seats and 32 Premium Economy seats, while the A321XLR aircraft will have 20 Flagship Suite seats and 12 Premium Economy seats.

Refreshing existing B777-300/ER

Flagship Suite® seats will be included in the retrofit of American's aircraft. The aircraft will be refreshed with new interiors in the late 20th century. 70 Flagship Suite® seats and 44 Premium Economy seats will be available on American's aircraft.

The End of First Class?

The future of American's first class product was not mentioned in the press release. It looks like First Class is making a quiet exit and American will focus on a premium Business Class suite.
