I don't know why I like this so much, but I can't stop laughing at it.
The two airlines announced a partnership last week. The feud between the US carriers and the Gulf carriers was symbolic. I don't think most people would have seen such close cooperation between American andQatar Airways.
Most people were not impressed by this arrangement. The implementation here is lackluster, even though it was marketed as a huge deal. This is mostly an interline agreement with limited reciprocity.
Frank Sinatra's "Come Fly With Me" was playing in the background as United and Emirates both published the same short video to their social media.
There are two crews walking through the terminal at the airport. The crews from both airlines walk through the airport. The passengers look on in awe as they walk by, and the whole thing has Leonardo DiCaprio vibes.
I don't understand why the United flight attendants are leaving their cars in the parking lot while the Emirates crews are leaving their buses.
There is only one problem with this video, it has no basis in reality. I remember when the ad was for the airline and it showed the actress flying with the airline. That is a better representation of your typical crew.
It's a night and day difference when you see an Emirates and United crew at the airport. They can't use their cell phones, they can't walk on planes with Frappes, and they can't wear lipstick.
On a long haul United flight, some flight attendants have a handful of carry-ons including lunch boxes, which they're carrying with one hand, while they're on their phone with the other. Some flight attendants have wrinkled and untucked shirts and look like they didn't brush their hair or shower.
Whether it is the pilots talking about vaccines, or the flight attendants talking about how much they don't want to work on a full flight, never mind.
I don't want to be sexist, ageist, or lookist. As part of the experience, the Gulf carriers sell their appearance. US airlines don't tell us that flight attendants are there for safety US airlines offer flight attendants unionized careers with a lot of job security, which isn't offered at Emirates.
This partnership isn't something that it isn't The airlines need to be realistic with themselves. American is a good example of a US airline. The airline used to have a slogan that said "going for great." American Airlines cut clapping at the end of safety videos because it seemed too celebratory for flying with the airline.
The partnership between United and Emirates gives passengers from both countries access to destinations in the US. I think the airlines should show routes on a map.
Two airlines are very different and that's fine. They are both in the business of getting people from one point to another.
The marketing around this partnership is not realistic.
