The chief operating officer of Beyond Meat was suspended after he was accused of biting a man.

The company said in a statement that Doug Ramsey had been suspended. Jonathan Nelson is Beyond Meat's senior vice president for manufacturing operations.

According to a preliminary police report, Ramsey was taken into custody in Arkansas after an altercation in a parking lot in which his car came into contact with another man's car. The Beyond Meat executive bit the owner of the other car on the nose while punching him. The man is accused of threatening to kill the other man.

Ramsey was charged with terroristic threatening and third degree battery. He was out of jail on Sunday.

The plant-based company slashed its revenue outlook last month and said it would cut 4% of its workforce after his arrest. The shares are down 75% this year.

Ramsey joined the plant-based meats maker after the previous operating chief left.
