A leading Chinese solar power company is sending panels to the moon in order to establish a constant operation to harvest the sun's rays and send them back to Earth.

The Longi Green Energy Technology Company's proposal that it can harness solar power all day and not just while the sun is out is attracting interest.

While Longi is far from the first to explore the possibility of space-bound solar panels, other countries like India, Japan, and Russia are all working on similar efforts.

Public Partnership

According to a report, China is home to the first successful space solar panel transmission model after researchers captured sunlight high above the ground, converted it into microwave beams, and delivered it to a reception station on the ground.

There is a chance for private-public partnerships. The president of the China Space Foundation said that Longi's creation of a space solar panel lab could lead to partnerships with the China National Space Association.

The concept could be revolutionary if it succeeds.

One day, solar panels floating in space will power your home.

A plan for a hybrid fusion power facility has been announced by China.
