Roberto De Zerbi
De Zerbi is only Brighton's third permanent manager since Sami Hyypia resigned in 2014

Roberto de Zerbi was the new manager ofBrighton.

I spoke toPep on Sunday. The Italian said that he was very happy that he was on board.

He will be happy to help me if I need him, but we are playing against them, so he won't help me.

De Zerbi, who was the first choice for the role, revealed that he chose to join the side over a number of other options.

"Brighton's style of play is very similar to my idea of football, and they wanted me to be their coach."

After we had begun to talk, we met each other right away. Other teams were interested in me but I am happy to be here.

After leaving his previous job as Shakhtar's manager, De Zerbi was available.

He said that he wasn't expecting everything to finish in February and that it was bad because of the war.

I can continue to work with the same passion. I feel for the Ukranian people as well as the players I trained.

He spoke through a translator for the majority of the news conference but made an opening statement in English and promised language would not be a problem for long.

He apologized for his English and said he wanted to speak English by January.

I would like to say thank you to the chairman and the club for allowing me to be here. I have studied all the players and I will do a good job.

The Seagulls haven't played since Potter's departure and have had their matches against Bournemouth and Crystal Palace put off.
