Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State Bedlam Rivalry Series Done When Sooners Join SEC

The Bedlam series between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State will end in five years.

When the Sooners leave the Big 12 for the SEC, they won't be renewing their rivalry with Oklahoma State.

After West Virginia left the Big East for the Big 12 in 2001, the Backyard Brawl between the two teams was stopped. The two teams played each other for the first time since 2011.

The Lone Star Showdown featuring Texas and Texas A&M hasn't been played since 2011.

Oklahoma State is expected to maintain a nine-game Big 12 schedule and the SEC is expected to implement a nine-game conference schedule when Oklahoma and Texas join.

The board of regents at Oklahoma and Texas accepted an invitation to join the SEC in July 2021. The Big 12's current media rights deal is set to end on July 1, 2025.

Track and field is included in the rivalry between the Sooners and Cowboys. The football series began in 1904. They haven't met on the grid iron in 1905 and 1909.

The Sooners have dominated the football field. Oklahoma State defeated the Sooners in last year's game 37-33. The game will take place at the Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
