Texans pick off Russell Wilson (0:21)

Russell Wilson sent a pass to Courtland, but it ended up being picked off. There is a 0:21

6:00 AM ET

Pitre was studying film in his bedroom when he was a kid.

DeVita sat on a black couch in the living room explaining to her son why he was going to live with his parents.

As he was not familiar with home ownership, DeVita was asked to search online on his behalf. Rick leaned over and interrupted DeVita as she was about to reveal the prices she found.

Rick said that she was in circles. A man! Go straight to the chase. The person is cheap. He doesn't want to be flashy. He wants to look nice, but he won't leave the plane without a coat.

Rick and DeVita laughed.

The Pitres live in Stafford, Texas, which is close to the stadium where the Texans play. The house where Jerick and Jalen have grown up is the same one they grew up in.

After signing a four-year, $8.9 million deal, with a $3.6 million signing bonus, he knew he was staying at the crib.

Staying with his parents was a good idea because of the high prices DeVita found for the type of home he was interested in.

He said he wasn't going to give them that kind of money.

The courses for the Eagles and Vikings were set by a draft pick.

• How Jets overcame 99.9% odds to lose

• The state of 49ers QBs

• Giants aren't afraid of failure

• Mayfield not living up to expectations

• Seahawks get 'humbling' reality check

• Parsons, Cowboys' D leading the way

After finishing his studies, he walked into the family room and confirmed the rumors.

"That's pretty accurate," he said with a laugh. I will use my money. I try to be responsible for most of the time. I think I'm a little cheap. My parents told me to take my time before making a decision.

He doesn't plan on moving until he finds a place that's financially sound for him. He likes being able to spend time with his parents in the living room, where they used to watch movies such as "Bad Boys" and "Martin."

The living room is where Rick and Jerick watch sports. Kobe Bryant and Reggie Bush were two players that caught his eye when he was younger, because they were his favorites as a kid. Bush is the reason for the number 5.

Even though they lived in Houston, the household was not upset when the Texans chose Mario Williams over Bush. When the Saints took Bush with the second pick, it was a win-win situation for Rick and the team.

There was still an affection for a player from the hometown team that was still growing. He modeled his game after Bush and Foster.

He was candid about his skills.

"At one point, my favorite player was the all-time leading scorer in the Texans' history, Arian Foster." I was not good at running back. I was good but it wouldn't have gone too far. I wouldn't have been able to play in the NFL. It's not a chance.

In his first two games with the Texans, he had 15 tackles, including one for a loss, and he was promoted to a starting safety position.

It's not every day that you hear about an athlete living in his hometown. The look around the house and how his parents treat him are the same despite the renovations.

He admitted that there isn't even a reason to have a curfew for him because he sleeps really early.

Even though the room that he now sleeps in has become a little cramped with his football gear, he hasn't changed.

The layout of the room is the same as it was when he was a student at Stafford High School.

He woke up at 5 a.m. and hopped on the interstate for a 20-minute ride to the facility in the same Dodge Challenger he received from his parents in his sophomore year of college.

Because of his early mornings, he doesn't see his parents until he makes that ride. Rick has been a truck driver for 28 years and DeVita has been a bank teller for 21 years.

When he arrives home around 6 p.m., he usually only sees his mom, who leaves around the same time. They will talk as he listens to his mother talk about work and poke fun at her.

Two childhood favorites have changed.

They don't talk about football very much.

Rick said they don't want to stress him out. The National Football League is so much.

The lack of football discussions at home helps with the daily grind of the league.

The calms my nerves a lot. I just come home and chill. There aren't a lot of questions about football.

It gets a very old-school feel to it because it reminds you of little league when you were a kid. It makes you feel like a child again.

Food is the main change.

They still eat dinner together, but he eats what he gets from the facility. He knows he has to eat like a professional athlete when it comes to his mother's cooking.

If we request it, my parents will throw it down. I wanted to keep that burden off of them. I'm also trying to be a better person.

A diet consisting of no fast food, fish and chicken, and a lot of green vegetables and fruits is what Jalen's diet consists of.

Sometimes the family will sit in the living room, chat about life and reminisce as Rick arrives home around 9 p.m.

When he comes home from practice, it is impossible for him not to think of old times. The sports memories make him feel bad when he enters the house.

There are many trophies from when Jerick and Jalen were young.

There are pictures on the shelf from when Rick was the coach of his sons' basketball team.

There are two large banners hanging from the ceiling of the garage, one of which has a picture of Jerick and Jalen in their high school football jerseys.

Even though his parents joke about him being cheap, they don't allow him to pay rent.

All of that was alleviated by Rick. My kids were told to do their part and we would do ours.

Living with his parents is more than just being frugal, it's about a family bond that brings him peace from the daily grind of the football team.

Maybe next year, he and his mom will go back to the internet to find his first home.
