A job advert posted to work at a supermarket in Germany that asked for workers that aren't completely screwed up and can work five days a week without immediately suffering from burnout went viral.

People were asked if they could tell the time and if they could tell a case of beer from a bottle.

The advert was posted by a store in western Germany and appeared in a newspaper.

The Edeka- branded store is operated by Edeka.

Independent operators of Edeka stores in the region are free to decide what to stock and what to charge, as well as when to open, according to Edeka Rhein-Ruhr.

The goal was to create an unusual job ad that would help the team find new employees, according to Insider.

The number of applications was much higher than with standard ads.

The CEO of Trendence Institute told Insider that blunt adverts can only work if they match the recruitment strategy.

He said that the Edeka advert stood out because it stood out.

"I've seen many job ads where people don't know what to think, but end up doing a good job," he said.

If the supermarket ran this one against a more conventional one in a neighboring town and counted how many applications each received, it would be possible to determine how well it worked.
